Defining OTT

OTT refers to media being delivered over the internet, encompassing services such as Netflix, Hulu, HBO GO, ESPN+, and more - all of which are content distribution platforms reaching -users directly. When equipped with a Smart TV, the applications installed on your device fall under the OTT media service category.

Historical Perspective on Televisions

The evolution of televisions dates back to the early 1920s when mechanical televisions scanned images and projected them onto screens; these devices had only 18 lines of resolution. The Aging Gamer Demographic

An alternative approach could see manufacturers offering aftermarket processing unit add-ons, either indepently or in collaboration with traditional gaming console providers. This would enable enhanced gameplay functionality on existing Smart TVs.

Gaming holds a significant opportunity within the OTT space as a potential distribution channel alongside an unlocking of television-centric genres through Smart TVs. The combination of evolving consumer trs, changing gaming demographics, and societal shifts positions this medium for increased accessibility to non-traditional gamers.
